The Vector Database Storage workspace usage limit defines the maximum amount of vectorized data your workspace can store.
Unlike Tables, which store structured data in rows and columns, vector databases handle unstructured data—like emails, meeting transcripts, and company policies—by converting them into vectors. On Botpress, your knowledge base is the repository of files you’ve given to your bot that acts as its brain, or the information it has access to.
Vector databases are integral to your bot’s ability to answer queries with relevant, accurate information. This process involves vectorizing files—transforming unstructured data into vector embeddings that capture semantic meaning. These embeddings are stored in the vector database, allowing the bot to perform semantic searches and retrieve relevant information during interactions.
For your convenience, we express the storage quota of your vector database in gigabytes, but the actual unit being measured is the number of vectors contained in your bot’s knowledge base.
The more files, Tables, websites, and data you add to your bot’s knowledge base, the more Vector storage you’ll end up using.
