Botpress is standardizing all Workspaces onto the latest pricing version.
This migration applies after a 30-day notice period and takes effect on December 22, 2025.
This update does not change any existing subscriptions. If a Workspace has no active subscription, no new charges apply unless the Workspace creates new usage after the migration date.
The purpose of this page is to outline what changes, what stays the same, and what to expect once your Workspace moves to the latest billing version.
Who This Change Affects
Any Workspaces created after 2:00pm EST on December 9, 2024 are already on the latest Botpress billing version and will remain unchanged.
Any Workspaces created before 2:00pm EST on December 9, 2024 will be migrated to the latest Botpress billing version.
What Stays the Same
The migration does not modify existing data or active content:
- Existing bots, files, table rows, and collaborators remain available.
- Current storage and usage remain intact.
- No data is deleted or altered.
- Existing subscriptions continue without modification.
What Changes
All Workspaces move to the most current quota structure shown on the Botpress website. For users on older pricing versions, the newer limits are lower in several areas. To avoid involuntary downgrades, all current limits are grandfathered.
Grandfathering means:
- You keep everything already in your Workspace (bots, collaborators, data).
- The historical limits stay active as long as they are not reduced.
- Once a limit is reduced (like deleting a bot or freeing up usage), the Workspace cannot restore the old limit.
If you need additional usage later, you can purchase add-ons or upgrade to a paid plan at any time.
Comparison: Old Limits vs. New Limits
These apply to users on the Free plan without an existing paid subscription.
How Grandfathering Works in Practice
Here's what happens if you take certain actions after the migration takes effect:
If you delete a bot
You retain only the remaining bots. Adding another bot later requires an add-on or paid plan.
If you reduce file usage below your current grandfathered limit
Your new available storage cannot exceed the V3 limit without a paid add-on.
If your usage currently exceeds the V3 quotas
You keep your data and nothing breaks.
If you exceed your grandfathered limit after the migration
The Workspace moves to V3 limits, and expanding usage requires an add-on or plan upgrade.
FAQs
Why is this happening?
Botpress is consolidating all Workspaces under a single pricing system. Older versions had different quota models and add-on structures that created inconsistency. Moving everything to one version simplifies billing, support, and long-term maintenance.
Will anything in my Workspace be removed?
No. All existing bots, files, table rows, and collaborators remain available. Grandfathering preserves everything already in your Workspace.
Will I be charged automatically?
No. If your Workspace does not have an active subscription, nothing is charged automatically. Charges only occur if you explicitly purchase add-ons or upgrade.
Do these changes affect Plus, Team, or Enterprise plans?
No. Existing paid plans remain unchanged. Only additional purchases after the migration use the new pricing version.
What happens if I am currently above the new quotas?
You stay above them. Your data remains accessible. The grandfathered quota remains in place unless you reduce it.
What happens if I delete a bot, collaborator, or stored data?
Once a quota decreases, it cannot be restored under the old limits. Restoring capacity requires add-ons or a paid plan.
Can I avoid the migration?
No. All Workspaces move to the latest billing version after the notice period.
Does this affect API behavior or bot performance?
No. The migration affects only billing limits and add-on pricing, not runtime or execution behavior.
I am a new user. Which limits apply to me?
All users who created a Botpress account after 2:00pm EST on December 9, 2024, including new users, are already on the latest Botpress billing version. The limits listed on the Botpress website, as well as the billing page in the Dashboard, applies to these users.
I am on a Workspace that is set to be migrated. What happens to purchases made between now and the migration date?
All Workspaces created before 2:00pm EST on December 9, 2024 will move to the updated pricing version, including any with purchases made between now and December 22, 2025. On the date of the migration, prices will automatically reflect the new pricing model. We therefore strongly recommend creating a new Workspace to avoid any unexpected charges.
